Matthew Moo
BSc, MBA, RRCA Certified Coach
Hi, I’m Matthew! I’m based in Chicago, Illinois. By day, I work as an analyst for a higher education consulting firm; by evening, I run.
I only started running intentionally in my 30s. One 10K turned into half marathons. Half marathons turned into full. I was not an athlete growing up, and I made plenty of mistakes when I first started running. While training for what would have been my first marathon in Vienna, Austria, I developed a stress fracture in my left tibia that prevented me from seeing the start line, let alone the finish. A few months after the injury, I returned to running—and a year later, completed a sub-3-hour marathon.
I became a running coach because I wanted to learn best practices and share that knowledge with others. More importantly, I became a coach because I, too, have been coached. I, too, had the privilege of people believing in me.
As your coach, I will believe in you. No matter where in the world you may be running, I will be with you to advise you, challenge you, encourage you, and celebrate with you. If you are new to running, I am here to remind you: it is never too late, and your best running years are still ahead of you.
I can create structured training plans, suggest cross-training workouts, analyze your running statistics, and provide nutrition and race strategies. Please visit the Services page for a comprehensive list of our coaching offerings.
I love learning what drives others to run long distances. So, please do not hesitate to reach out—I’d love to hear your story!

Hey, I’m Mo! Running has always been a part of my life. I ran track in high school back in my native Germany. Over the years, I have gone from short sprints to marathons and 70.3 triathlons. One day, I hope to take on a full Ironman. But honestly, I don’t run to compete. I run because I truly enjoy it.
If you are out on Chicago’s lakefront path on a Saturday morning, you might catch me on a run, chasing the sunrise. It is how I love to start my day and clear my head after a long and busy week. I know how hectic life can get, especially now as I prepare to become a first-time dad this summer—which is why I believe training should be flexible, realistic, and built around your life, not the other way around.
To me, running—or any fitness journey—is about empowerment. My coaching approach is about meeting you where you are, whether you’re lacing up for your first 5K or chasing a new marathon PR. While flexibility matters, real progress comes from consistency, discipline, and commitment.
As your coach, I will help you strike the right balance between structure and adaptability. I will support you in reaching your full potential—without burnout or injury—because enjoying the process is key. I am here to help you build a lasting, positive relationship with running.

Let’s run smart, have fun, and make every mile count!
